Fredie has been Heart Tested. Although heart problems are not that common in rottweilers, they have been known, so I decided to get ours checked. I went to a Cardiologist who usually tests Boxers and using the same scoring system, Fredie has been graded a 0 (certificate issued)

They grade between 0-6

0 being NO murmer, so I am really pleased with This :)

Faith was heart tested on the 25th January 2007, She too has a grade 0 being No murmer(certificate Issued)

(She had been previously done at 8 months but the Cardiologist advises dogs be over 12 months to be cetain there is no murmur)

Madison was also Taken to be heart tested (purely for health resons not breeding intentions, Madison has been speyed) Madison is also a grade 0 being No murmer .

(certificate issued)

Faiths Hip scores are back see above for the excellent results !!!

Docking Law

For the attention of potential rottweiler owners please be aware it is now an offence to purchase a puppy that has had its tail docked, this new law was effective from April 2007.

All reputable breeders will be aware of this new ruling and their puppies will have their tails intact. If you see a puppy with a docked tail then question the breeder as to why it has not got its tail and DO NOT purchase the puppy.

Working dogs are exempt from the docking law however, these dogs are for professional use and will not be sold to potential owners for pets.

The breeder might say the dogs were docked in Ireland , where the docking ban is not in force, Then I ask you to question would a reputable breeder drag a litter of 2 day old pups accross the water,,just to get their tails removed !!!

Also if it your intention to show your puppy at a later date ,please also be aware you will not be allowed to show a docked dog at shows where the public pay to enter . ie CRUFTS.

This does not mean we have always been against docking, It just means that the law as been passed, and it MUST be adhered to, Before the ban VETS could quite safely dock puppies, Our concern now is that as the vets can/will not dock litters that more people /back street breeders will attempt docking themselves, Causing horrific harm and sometimes death to puppies. Or as said earlier the breeder as took a litter of pups over to Ireland, and if this is what they say they have done, and your happy with this, I would ask for some form of proof, eg : Doccumentaion from the vet who performed the dock, It wouldn't have been done for free, ask the breeder to see the receipt ,making sure the vets address is IRELAND.

Then ask for photocopies of this proof, Before you purchase any puppy, You will need this proof if you are questioned by your own vet or other officials as to why your puppy is Docked.

This is why when you see a docked litter with the intention to buy you must stop & think ask lots of questions, and if you feel that the litter was treated cruelly , or have any concerns,or just need advice Contact your local, Coucil, RSPCA, Or Police.
